Summer is here. Generally speaking, summer is a fun time because you can go for a vacation, have fun in the sea or swimming pool, even go to the mountains for trekking or mountain expeditions. However, hot and torrid days of summer can also be really harsh, especially if you are living in tropical climates. When the temperature reaches 40 degrees Celsius or more, summer becomes difficult.

Prickly heat is one of the common problems during the summer. Prickly heat is the obstruction of the sweat ducts during high heat and humidity. Prickly heat is also called heat rash or miliaria.

How to Stop Prickly Heat or Heat Rashes

Prickly heat or heat rash occurs when you sweat profusely. Sweating will block the sweat ducts, the result is rashes and blisters. You will experience itching and irritation.

A common solution for prickly heat or heat rash is talcum powder. When you use talcum powder in the affected area, it will lower the temperature on your outer skin. You will no more sweat and rashes and blisters will no longer appear.

Another way to stop prickly heat is by making your body dry. Rub your body whenever you sweat.

You can also stop heat rashes by cooling your body temperature. You can do this by taking a shower frequently or eating foods that lower your body temperature. Foods such as cucumber, watermelon, and ice creams lower your body temperature.

Home Remedies For Prickly Heat or Heat Rash

Here are some effective ways to treat prickly heat. Since these are natural solutions to prickly heat, you can use these home remedies without any risk.

Oatmeal is very effective in controlling heat rashes. Take 20 minutes oatmeal bath. You can prepare your oatmeal bath by throwing a handful of oatmeal and letting t soak for 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can also rub soaked oatmeal on heat rashes and blisters to get away from prickly heat. Oatmeal helps in exfoliation thus helping in clearing your blocked sweat ducts. Oatmeal is also effective in the treatment of itching and irritation.

Another home remedy you can try for the treatment against prickly heat is chickpea flour. Add some water to chickpea flour to make a thick paste. Apply this paste to areas where there are rashes and blisters. Leave it for 15 minutes then wash with cold (not icy cold) water.

Baking soda is also very effective in heat rashes.  Add ΒΌ cup of baking soda to lukewarm water and wash your body with this water.

If you have prickly heat, do not use soaps.
